Description

This worksheet features eleven different dimensional analysis problems. Students utilize molar mass, Avogadro’s number, Molarity and/or mole to mole conversion factor to solve the problems. In the eleven problems, students will:

  • Convert grams to moles of a substance
  • Convert moles to grams of a substance
  • Convert compounds to moles of a substance
  • Convert moles to compounds of a substance
  • Convert mass to atoms of a substance
  • Convert compounds to mass in grams of a substance
  • Determine the Molarity of a solution with a known number of moles and volume
  • Determine the volume of water needed to prepare a targeted concentration with a known mass
  • Convert volume and Molarity to moles
  • Determine the moles of a reactant needed to form a product with a given mass
  • Convert compounds of a reactant to the mass of a product in grams

Additional Product Features:

  • I provided a key with the answers in bold red font.
  • I digitally mapped out and showed the work for each problem.
  • I rounded each answer in the key to honor the multiplication/division rule of significant figures.
  • I included a text box in the upper right corner of the student sheet that profiles how to use each conversion factor.
  • This lesson is TpT Digital/Easel-ready!

I assign this activity in my eighth-grade physical science class. A high school chemistry teacher could also utilize this worksheet for an introductory unit about dimensional analysis.
