Mixed Media Art Lesson: Pencil Drawing Over Watercolour Painting
Students develop an understanding of how different mediums (ex. watercolour paint and pencil medium) can be used together to create a unique vision that is evident of personal expression.
Students learn that creativity in visual arts can extend to blending several mediums in a single work, creating what is known in the art world as "mixed media."
Students learn to:
-create two- and three-dimensional art works that express feelings and ideas inspired by their own and others’ points of view
-demonstrate an understanding of composition, using selected principles of design to create narrative art works or art works on a theme or topic
-use elements of design in art works to communicate ideas, messages, and understandings
-use a variety of materials, tools, and techniques to determine solutions to design challenges (ex. Mixed media)
-interpret a variety of art works and identify the feelings, issues, themes, and social concerns that they convey
