Description

This series of Mixed-Media Process Art Projects is part of the Fostering Creativity Through Process Art curriculum.

The complete Fostering Creativity Through Process Art Curriculum includes open-ended process art activities designed to inspire creative art exploration in the areas of painting, print-making, sculpture, and mixed-media.

What is Process Art?

If you are new to this term (and that’s okay!),  process art emphasizes the experience, the DOING, the “process” of making art.

This is an open-ended approach to having an art experience without any specific outcome in mind. It’s most commonly used with young children (3-6 years old), but can be quite enjoyable for people of all ages and ability levels. Process art is often used in art therapy.

This is an ideal way to get acquainted (or re-acquainted) with the most fundamental concepts of art-making and artistic thinking…things like: being present, embracing uncertainty, and exploring impulses.

What is Mixed-Media Process Art?

Mixed-Media Process Art is one of four sections of the comprehensive Fostering Creativity Through Process Art series.

Traditionally, the term “mixed-media” describes the use of more than one medium (or art material) in a project.

For our purposes, mixed-media refers to projects that aren’t easily categorized elsewhere. Our 12 mixed-media activities are brimming with artistic explorations of light, mirrors, heat, non-Newtonian fluid, moving parts, adhesives, and more!

These projects scream STEAM (Science, Tech, Engineering, Art, and Math)!
