Product Description
This packet is based on the Layer One Sounds of the Orton Gillingham Phonics First Program. It is a Mixed Vowel Packet that focuses on learning the short vowel sounds. It was created to follow the use of my Vowel Intensive Multi-sensory Activities packet, but could be used on it's own as well. I am using this to meet the needs of my students to build phonemic awareness, and hopefully it will help your students as well!

This Multi-sensory Activities and Dictation Packet for Mixed Vowel Practice contains:

1.) Table of Content – This set of Multi-sensory Activities was developed to take place over 10 weeks. The first 6 weeks focuses on 2 short vowels at a time. The last 4 weeks focuses on mixed vowel practice. This is only a suggestion. The activities can be used at a quicker or slower pace depending on your students needs.

2.) Key Word Picture Cards – Each vowel sound starts with a Key Word Picture Card. These can be printed, laminated, and hung up as a learning tool for your students. The Key Word Picture is used to help students associate the sound each vowel makes to the picture and word.

3.) Dictation Booklet – There is a Dictation Booklet for the entire 10 weeks. For daily dictation, select 2 CVC words containing the vowel you are focusing on and a simple sentence for students to pound and tap out. For example, Day 1 Dictation Words are: fan and mat. The Sentence is: The cat is on the mat.

4.) Multi-sensory Activity Directions – Each activity starts with a set of procedures on how to complete the Multi-sensory Activities. These directions also include suggestions for differentiated instruction.

5.) Independent Practice Pages – These reproducible activities are differentiated. Choose from the following activities: Fill in the Missing Vowel, Write the CVC Word, Read and Draw, Matching, My Little Book of ____ , Read or Nonsense Words, Color a Word, Color the CVC Pictures, Picture or Word Sorting, Read and Write the Room
