Every kid should experience the phenomena of vinegar mixing with baking soda! However, the presentation of this phenomena has the potential to help young children learn the scientific process.
I use the first page to help the children record what happened in the experiment. By sorting the variables (liquids) used into "made bubbles" and "did not make bubbles," the children can start thinking about what other properties the bubble making liquids have, and what properties the non bubble making liquids have (or lack). Later, a discussion ensued about the variables: why some made bubbles and some did not. This is a page I send home with students so they can show of to their parents all the fun hands on stuff we are doing in class!
The second page is one we glue into our science notebooks to record our learning and refer back to as the year continues. This page helps the children experience all the steps involved in the scientific method. It is scaffolded to meet the needs of first graders who need sentence stems to guide their thinking.

• Orange Juice

• 5 Eye droppers (or spoons)
