This word problem set involves solving equations working with mixtures. For example, mix two solutions with different concentrations and amounts to produce a new mixture. There are 10 problems of increasing difficulty with full written out solution keys. I have students use a grid method for organizing the information which is demonstrated in the answer key. These problems involve solving equations with one variable. One method for use could be to demonstrate 5 problems in class and have the students solve the remaining 5 for homework. In a 45 minute block, I often introduce 2 types of word problems at a time. If your students are just beginning to solve word problems, I have a free graphic organizer that might help.
