On the front side of a full page activity, students define mixture and compound and then determine the classification of thirty-six substances. On the backside, students define solution and then indicate whether fifteen mixtures are or aren't solutions by writing yes or no on the line. The backside concludes with five summative questions about solutions.
This activity is a great spring board for either student group or classroom discussion. Many of the presented examples reveal patterns, which will help students distinguish them when they think back to the definitions of each term at the top of the page.
