When reading a series of books to my class, I always like them to know a bit more about the author. If he/she has written so many wonderful books, I think they deserve the recognition! Here is a brief biography I made to use with my 1st graders about Mo Willems as we read some of his Pigeon and Elephant and Piggie stories during our author study.
It is in the form of a paper book, 12 half pages total (prints on 7.) Students cut out pages and I staple together before we do a shared reading at the carpet. The words used in the biography are age appropriate for 1st grade. The book has real photos pulled from Mo's website and other valid sources.
P.S. If you like this simple biography, check out my Laure Numeroff and Eric Carle ones! Next up is Lucille Colandro...
