For this activity, I have students learn about how America mobilized for WWII through a hands on 'grab bag' activity. You would need to make the bags, but the items are shown in the attached PPT and handout. You could print out all the items or easily put them together. It also connects mobilizing for WWII with modern wars and how little Americans are asked to sacrifice. Basically, students pull items out of a bag and try to determine what it represents in terms of WWII mobilization. For example, pack of seeds represents victory gardens. Answer key is included.
