Product Description

This PowerPoint presentation examines America's efforts to mobilize for its involvement in World War II. It begins by suggesting America had 5 main goals it hoped to accomplish in preparation for the War: 1. Ensure all out industrial production of wartime materials. 2. Finance the war effort by selling bonds.

3. Get all Americans to help conserve vital resources. 4. Defend the homeland.

5. Recruit soldiers willing to fight and die. It then suggests that the government turned to propaganda to get the American people on board. In doing so, it briefly examines the techniques of good propaganda including demonization, name calling, an appeal to fear, patriotism, catchy slogans, and the bandwagon. It then provides numerous examples of World War II propaganda representing the various techniques and goals.
