A Lap Book based on the book by Herman Melville. This was a version for the younger kids reading this classic. I have implemented it in my Advance First Grade reading program and through the use of this Lap Book it has become very memorable.
The lap book consists on booklets each student is meant to draw their own characters and describe them as best they can. I love to have my son draw everything as it helps him remember the story better and use his imagination and creativity.
It is a very simple layout simply but and paste of a lap book style binder. You can find more ideas on my blog.
In this picture you will see I have added and extra page to the lap book, which folds upward. This is part of our study of Whales. I thought it would be nice to take the time to study these incredible Sea Mammals.
Also you will see some Notebook pages as well. To help kids write about what they have learned and about parts of a Story.
Both activities are also free downloads. You may search for them and incorporated into your lesson.
This will make your lesson longer but kids learn lots with fun stuff.
Hope you can enjoy this Whale of a Book as much as we did!!!!
