This is a full unit plan including Lesson Plans with NJ Social Studies Standards, 1 PowerPoint presentation, and a 22 page packet for each student. The goal is for students to take notes on a Crash Course video about the Supreme Court to get some basic information, define some key terms for the Supreme Court, then be divided into groups and form "law firms" where they will first - review Supreme Court cases involving cases relevant to their lives as students going to school, work together to identify the main idea/relevant issue of the case, before they are given a mock case. Each "law firm" will form the essential teams of a Trial Presentation, following a script prompt to create a prosecution and a defense that they will present in front of their classmates, who will all be responsible for feedback on the quality of their classmates presentation.
This was a project I completed for a graduate course at Montclair State University as part of obtaining my MEd in Special Education. It was finalized in the winter of 2017.
Any feedback on how useful (or not) other teachers find the completion project would be meaningful to me. I have not used this in a classroom with students yet.
