Description
This animated Google Slide lesson and set of Guided Notes are designed to bring energy and clarity to your classroom while helping students master key concepts in grade 7 math. With visually engaging animations and an easy-to-follow structure, the lesson begins with a clear objective and an essential question to guide learning and focus students on the key takeaways. These interactive slides and notes template are perfect for whole-class instruction, small-group work, or independent learning! View the video lesson.
In this Grade 7 math video, students will learn how to model and solve two-step equations in three different ways. We will begin by creating a double bar diagram to represent a real-world problem, then use the diagram to write a two-step equation, model it as a one-step equation, and find the solution. Next, we will use algebra tiles to model two-step equations by creating zero pairs to isolate the variable tiles and then “dividing” the variable tiles into equal groups with the integer tiles. Each step is connected visually and algebraically as we move from a two-step equation to a one-step equation and a final solution. Finally, students will learn four simple steps to solve equations in the form px + q = r or px − q = r : Step 1: write the equation, Step 2: undo addition or subtraction, Step 3: undo multiplication or division, and Step 4: check the solution. Throughout the video, students will write and solve equations to represent real-world problems and practice each method with modeled exemplar solutions. This lesson aligns with Common Core Standard 7.EE.B.4.a.
