Product Description

This activity uses pony beads (or other items) to represent subatomic particles to model fusion. This activity works well with NGSS with its emphasis on modeling!

Part 1:

Student manipulate the beads to form "ingredients" and then fuse atomic together.

Part 2:

Students may continue to use the beads or just a Periodic Table to identify the elemental products of each fusion reaction.

Part 3:

Students determine what elements would be created if the elements in molecules were fused rather than forming molecules.

Part 4:

Students answer five questions related to lab.

Includes:

  • Student sheet
  • Answer key
  • Teacher tips & tricks
