PRODUCT DESCRIPTION

Students are often puzzled as to why hurricanes lose their strength over land. In this lab, students will use tops and spin them over crumpled paper, representing land, and a smooth flat surface, such as the floor or desktop to represent the water. Students will record the time the spinner spins on each surface. This activity allows students to discover that moisture evaporating from the oceans affects weather patterns and weather events such as hurricanes. Students will also discover why barrier islands are important to the main land!
