PRODUCT DESCRIPTION

Fractions and percent drive fifth grade crazy. I have designed a PowerPoint for explaining percent using a thermometer. Much like the common core number line concept, the thermometer compares 100 percent to a whole number and then breaks the number into smaller pieces. I used the model to teach fifth grade math, however, it also speaks to both 6th and 7th grade numeracy standards. It is the original with step by step instructions. The PowerPoint provides step by step instructions for answering a story problem, graphics to use with students for projection and printing, and hints for dispelling misconceptions. This is the first in a series of solving story problems using pictures.
