This project is designed for Honors or AP Biology classes studying the details of protein synthesis. Students will create a model that effectively depicts the fluid nature of the translation process. They may accomplish this in various ways, including, but not limited to:
- a physical model that may be manipulated during a live presentation or on video
- stop motion animation using paper cutouts, other physical models, drawings, computer graphics, etc.
- staged play using actors and props (presented live or on video)
- a sequenced set of diagrams such as a cartoon, booklet or flipbook.
The document provided contains the objective and list of modeling ideas, similar to above, and additionally includes: photos of student work examples and a detailed rubric. The rubric provides students with specific project requirements while providing teachers a straightforward and objective grading tool. I assigned this project the past four years in my AP Biology classes and it is always a student favorite!
