This 30-slide power point presentation provides students with an overview of modern issues that have taken place across the African continent since the end of World War Two. The presentation begins with the struggle for independence from the colonial powers beginning in 1945 and focuses on the struggles associated with those independence movements. Particular emphasis is placed on South Africa and the fight for ending apartheid. The presentation then focuses on other modern issues that many African nations face, such as famine, overpopulation, AIDS, poverty, and ethnic conflicts and civil wars. Focus is given to the 1994 Rwandan Genocide as well as the contemporary struggles in the region of the Sudan.
