This assignment is a student presentation assignment. Students learn from each other about the many people and organizations that are in the world that work to make the world a better place. This product includes:
1) an assignment sheet (word document)
2) a grading rubric sheet (2 grading sheets are on one page for
copying and cutting in 1/2) (word document)
3) An excel spreadsheet that has over 125 people or organizations
4) An "award" that can be handed out to students after all
presentations are completed (they don't need to know they are
getting an actual "award". Students are always excited to
receive this once the presentations are completed. (PowerPoint).
Just input your own students' names as needed.
These are included as a ZIP because there are 3 file types: Word, PowerPoint and Excel. Rather than upload as PDF etc., you will have the ability to edit each for your own classroom and needs.
This assignment can be set up in Google Drive where each students uploads their PowerPoint presentation so only 1 computer needs to be used for presentations.
Students will need about 2 class periods to work on this unless it is given out for homework. The length of presentations will depend on the number of students in class. For a class of 25 this would take 3 or 4 days if the classes are 85 min blocks.
Each students (in all classes) was given a different person or org so there was no chance of students borrowing other's work. That is why list is so comprehensive (although not exhaustive). Add orgs from you own locale or others you know about. That way students won't duplicate people organizations. With 125+ students, each presentation will be unique.
Do take breaks during the presentations or these presentations can be completed over the course of a semester if the course lends itself to that.
This was assigned in a Social Justice Class and also in a Scripture class as a modern day prophet assignment.
Some students actually did videos, Prezis etc. rather than a PowerPoint.
