Modern Love is an Amazon Prime series based off of the NY Times column and podcast. Episode 3, Take Me as I Am, Whoever I Am, follows the real life story of Terri Cheney’s battle with bipolar disorder. This episode would be beneficial in Psychology class during the Abnormal Psychology Unit. There is an amazing scene towards the end where Lexi (Terri’s name is changed in the episode) opens up about her struggles to a concerned friend. It is a very impactful scene when looking at vulnerability, active listening, and care. This episode stars Anne Hathaway, Quincy Tyler Bernstine, and Gary Carr.
The episode is 33 minutes in length but I would allow for a minimum of 45 minutes since there are questions to answer after the episode. One might also allow for time to discuss the episode. My video guide contains 20 questions and an answer key has been provided for you.
