This module looks at grammar and vocabulary using the context of the Spanish civil war.
This pack includes
Teaching lesson plans (or at least a guide to what the lessons might look like including possibilities for starters and plenaries)
A power point for the teacher (or perhaps for individual students) - which covers:
An introduction to the civil war with a link to a video giving some contextual information
A translation of the overview - students can be asked to give their opinions on what the text means (inferring meaning)
Revision of family and description plus hyperlinks to videos revising family vocabulary - students then describe their own family (This could be used for teaching family for the first time!)
Revision of adjectives plus a video link to teach adjectives and possessive adjectives
How to form comparatives, including a video link to teach them, plus some extra practice in the PPT (including answers)
A writing task - asking the students to write a letter as if they were in the trenches during the civil war and describing the people that are with them (the beginning of the letter is started for them)
A team activity where they think about vocabulary to do with what they can hear, smell (and extension feel) - possibly just using the present tense, but with scope to copy the pluperfect subjunctive and conditional perfect (the students do not need to know this, or learn it as there are example sentences here)
A listening activity with a video link to the listening comprehension
Revision of the preterite and imperfect tenses plus video links which could be used for independent study (as could all of them) to teach the students the tenses in more detail and practice. The PPT also includes practice of the two tenses with answers.
Reference to blockbuster games to practise the tenses above
Links to a vocabulary game which introduces the students to more vocabulary to do with the topic of war.
A reading text with links to a find the vocabulary activity, followed by some comprehension questions including the answers.
Looking at a poem and thinking about the meaning.
Creativity - students use their vocabulary to create similar poems or use the style like .... without..., like...without..., like me without.... (examples given), or extension activities which allow students to develop their own style within the idea of creating some poetry.
Video links to demonstrative adjectives, if clauses in Spanish and the conditional tense.
Reflexive verbs are also covered to allow students to develop the idea of a daily routine in the trenches or during the war elsewhere.
Again a video link to self study of these types of verbs.
An idea of an assessment piece of writing talking about everything they have learnt in the topic.
Information about Franco as a continuation and an idea for an oral assessment researching the topic more, or that of war in general or whether wars are necessary for extension.
Also in the pack are:
Blockbuster game cards plus spinners - boards at 4 different levels with differing levels of help.
A task magic file for find the vocabulary to go with the text in the PPT but also other possibly activities like tiles, fill in the gaps etc.
A task magic file with general war vocabulary
Two word documents for the listening activity - one for the teacher with answers and one for the students at two levels a) lower with multichoice answers and b) higher - with straightforward questions.
A word document with possible vocabulary to be put into the blockbusters games with translations.
A multitude of possibilities with this module of work. I have left everything editable so you can move slides around, or re-order lessons.
