This is a culture based vocabulary and grammar lesson. A bell work activity asks students to recall their prior knowledge on places in town vocabulary. In this lesson, students learn about places in town through photos of Paris. Tell students about the cultural practices and products associated with these places. Students not only learn the vocabulary for the places in town, but they learn to explain WHY they go there. Through modeling, students reinforce prior knowledge on using "parce que" and learn how to use "pour" + verbs. A notes slide is followed by a creative writing prompt asking students to state where they go and why, using "parce que" and "pour." Afterwards, students should share with their partner and then you may ask for volunteers to share to the group. This lesson concludes with a weblink explaining the difference between a bistro, brasserie, café, and salon de thé.
