Monetary and Fiscal Policy: Crash Course U.S. Government and Politics Video Analysis with Key- This is a 12 page document that contains a video analysis assignment and a completed teachers key for easy marking. It contains 37 questions based on The Crash Course U.S. Government and Politics video: Monetary and Fiscal Policy.

This assignment will ask students to go to YouTube and watch the Crash Course U.S. Government and Politics video: Monetary and Fiscal Policy. This video will provide students with an insight into both monetary and fiscal policy and how they are implemented in the U.S.. The first half of the video focuses on monetary policy and primarily, The Federal Reserve. The role of the Federal Reserve in controlling the cash flow, determining interest rates, keeping inflation in check, and imposing regulations on the banking industry are all reviewed. The second half of the video looks at fiscal policy which is much harder to use in the U.S. due to the large amount of mandatory spending that is required (Social Security and Medicare) and the aversion to raising taxes. Government deficit spending is explained as is how many people call for cuts to spending and the discretionary spending that exists.

This video analysis can be easily used as an introduction to the topic, a study guide, or a quick and easy sub plan. Students love the independence of this assignment by getting to use laptops, Chromebooks, or even their own cellphones to watch the video. Crash Course videos tend to move fast so students often find success if they watch the video through once before going back to pause/play to find the answers to all of the questions.
