Supplement your Math money unit with these money activities. Activities work well at Math centres, for independent practice, or in tutoring. Students will represent, compose, and decompose money amounts up to 100 cents.
This resource was designed with first and second grade in mind. The activities come with 2 variations: SET 1 - up to 20 cents and SET 2 - up to 100 cents. These activities require a set of coin manipulative. American and Canadian coins will work for both games.
Donut Shop Game:
• flip over a donut card to see its cost; pay cashiers, Bill and Millicent, using a different combination of coins. Can be played independently or with a partner.
• represent and compose the cost of a donut in different ways using coins, pictures, words, and numbers
• read the magician's clue and guess which coins he has hidden (i.e. "I have 2 coins that equal 10 cents. What are they?")
• represent and decompose money amounts using coins, pictures, words, and numbers
