Help students practice and learn adding together cents with this fun challenge! Included in this product are 48 Mystery Coin money strips and a recording sheet (to be printed double sided). The money amount goes up to $1.
Students will take the money strip cards and put them in a pile in front of them. They will then take one strip at a time. On the card, students will have to look at the amount, and determine which coins are needed to make the amount. Each circle represents one coin. Students will then either use coins to put on the strips, or if the cards are laminated, will write down Q for quarter, D for dime, N for nickel, or P for penny in each circle. Students will then record their answers on the provided recording sheet.
Differentiate by providing students below and on grade level with more simple mystery coin money strips (cards with fewer circles on them) and students above grade level with more difficult money strips (cards with more circles on them).
These mystery coin money strips are meant to help students:
- practice and learn the worth of each coin
- practice adding cents together
- learn that there are many ways to come up
with a single money amount
Printing the pages on card stock and then laminating is highly recommended as it will increase the durability and the longevity of the product. The pieces in this product may be stored in a Ziploc bag, envelope, or plastic container.
