CARDS: 110 Coin cards, 12 Moneybags cards, 4 work mats
Coin amount goes up to adding or subtracting $.55
HOW TO PLAY:
Students start with a balance of $1.00. They can use coins or they can write their amount on the Work Mat. First student picks a card from the pile. If there is a + in the corner students will add the money on their card to their $1.00. If the card has a – in the corner, students will subtract the amount from their dollar. The new amount is what they will add or subtract from the next round.
The game ends when a student pulls a “Moneybag” card. Students compare their amount. The student with the most money wins!
CLASS RULES *Teacher can choose if students go into the negatives of if they stay at 0.
I use this game as a math center for my 1st graders! It helps me determine which kids can fluently add and subtract money.
