CLB 5-7 Skill Focus: Listening and Speaking
In pairs or small groups students sequence personal spending priorities. The exercise is repeated using government/tax criteria. Activity ends with group discussion questions that can be either extending into a class discussion or become the basis of a writing assessment.
Lower Level Extension
Students must give several examples of each heading.
Higher Level Extension
Groups split based on their budgeting preferences. Teacher writes the words fiscal conservative and social democrat on the board and ask students to form groups based how they choose to spend money. Good warm up for political parties and elections.
