If your students are working on COUNTING COINS this spring (or anytime!) this is a great, hands-on way to supplement your math curriculum.
*Please Note: This game includes dimes, nickels, and pennies...no quarters!*
There are several different ways you can utilize this pack. My favorite way to use this activity in my own classroom is to print ONE SET of coin cards and pair students with recording sheets and clipboards to hunt around the room for the bugs (coin cards) and record each amount. This can also be an individual activity and even used as an assessment.
You can also print multiple sets for your math stations, centers and tubs. Students will count the coins on each card and record each amount on the recording sheet in the same way.
*Here are some ideas to REALLY make this game exciting...*
-pass out magnifying glasses to students as they HUNT for bugs (coin cards) around the room
-use plastic creepy-crawly bugs (Dollar Tree!) as incentives & prizes or simply for a good effort
I have found this to be an excellent activity to set up for my students who are successfully counting coins and just need some extra practice...while I work with students in a small group who may need some remediation and other strategies for counting coins.
This pack includes:
-recording sheet (front and back)
-15 coin cards with combinations of dimes, nickels, and pennies in color with a mixture of fronts & backs of each coin (A-O)
