Money is a somewhat difficult task for young children to identify. For a young child, all coins seemingly look alike and are hard to identify and from their perspective a coin is quite small. The Federal Reserve has changed the appearance of coins numerous times on the front and back. With that in mind, this activity pack is designed to introduce money to young children with large visual aids for identification. It is also designed with some manipulation features so that they can clearly see and manipulate major components on the four major coins. There are plenty of worksheets available for counting various combinations of money on the internet. This is not that type of activity package.
I did not include any of the newer coins in this package. I have found that young children tend to learn the newer coins after they can identify who or what is on the older versions of the coins. It is also less confusing trying to explain the numerous versions of each coin.
