Use these real-life coins to practice determining the amount of a set of coins! This file is meant to be displayed on a SMART board, or projection screen. The first four slides are used for all students to name the coin (dime, nickel, penny, quarter), the next four slides are used for the students to say the value of the coin (10 cents, 5 cents, 1 cent, 25 cents). There are also 4 slides that ask how many nickels, dimes, pennies, and quarters make $1. Divide your class into two teams. Both lines should face the board. Starting with slide #15, students race to see who can count the coins the fastest. The student in the front of each line is "up" and they go against each other. Whichever student wins that slide, they stay in, the other student is out. Play until there is only one side left. ***This can also be played as Around the World. Two students begin standing, whichever student gives a correct answer moves on to the next student in the room etc.
