In this differentiated project, students will be reviewing the skills of counting coins, determining monetary amounts, making money combinations, and making a line plot using manupulatives. Teachers will give students a miscellaneous bag of coins (pennies up to half dollars). Students will create a line plot of the coins and answer interpretation questions about the line plot and the money. Then, students will interpret monetary amounts by "buying" items from a story and making combinations.
Pages 1-2 have the lower version of the math task (Money, Money, Money (#1)). Pages 3-4 have the higher order version of the math task (#2). It is a differentiated project that engages both higher and lower achievers while still maintaining the same learning outcomes and goals.
