Increase higher-order thinking in your Personal Finance course by having students apply, analyze, and evaluate information. This EDITABLE Microsoft PowerPoint Presentation contains 12 scenarios that make great classroom discussion. Topics covered include: saving up for a purchase, budgeting, overdraft protection, simple interest, types of bank accounts, depository institution features, and saving strategies.
In my classroom I have individual marker boards so I like to have each student answer the question on their own board while I walk around to gauge student understanding. We then discuss each question together with possible responses. You could also do this activity purely as a discussion or have students record the answers on notebook paper for you to collect. Suggested answers are provided on the slide or in the notes section of the PowerPoint.
