This is a great open-ended activity to zero in on student's individual goals and objectives. I particularly like to use this after any of the "Curious George" books!

Print, laminate, and cut apart the banana and monkey cards. Use your own skill cards and specify the number of responses needed to receive a card. After giving responses, the first student gets a card. If he/she gets a monkey card, they continue to draw cards until they get a banana card. Then play passes to the next student. The object of the game is to get the most monkey and banana sets. I usually have my students say "Monkey" for monkey cards and "Banana" for banana cards. Example: "monkey, monkey, banana" for a student that receives 2 monkey cards before receiving a banana card and play passing to the next student. The students should lay out the monkey cards and then place a banana card on the monkeys as they receive them.
Have fun learning!
