Product Description
This unit assessment focuses on the stages of the Hero's Journey from Joseph Campbell's The Hero with a Thousand Faces and symbols from Cirlot's A Dictionary of Symbols in conjunction with the anchor text, The Natural, by Bernard Malamud. The paper focuses on synthesis and requires the students to choose an outside primary source to integrate into their writing. The unit deals with the common symbols, archetypes, and story structures that appear throughout the world to show how closely humanity is connected. The assessment also gives the students an opportunity to create a TED Talk instead of a written paper.
