What educators are saying

My kids enjoyed this activity. The primary source excerpts were not difficult to understand. It was a quick activity that should be supplemented with another task/activity.
This was a great activity when I wanted my students to go more in depth about the Monroe Doctrine. It really made them think! Thank you!

Description

This simple primary document reading on the Monroe Doctrine includes 3 key excerpts of the primary source to guide students into understanding its purpose.

After reading the excerpts, students complete 5 analysis questions and create a political cartoon that explains the Monroe Doctrine visually. This is a great homework or in-class assignment that can quickly help students to understand this crucial American foreign policy.

This download includes both printable and Google Docs versions of the activity! If you're in a paperless classroom or just want to integrate more digital resources, you can use the provided link to bring this resource into Google Classroom! An answer key is also included for your convenience.
