This parody song, based on Woody Guthrie's "This Land is My Land," is a great hook for the Monroe Doctrine. It helps the students understand the US claims over the Western Hemisphere.
If you are willing to have a little fun, embarrass yourself and annoy your students with this song, you should definitely purchase this lesson. After a quick lecture and then singing this with my students, they knew the Monroe Doctrine. They were able to tell me the basic ideas, and we were able to move onto the more in-depth ideas.
I used an instrumental version of the song I found on youtube. It is included as a link on the sheet
