This BFU is on James Monroe and the Monroe Doctrine. It covers the emerging nationalism and sense of exceptionalism in the USA
after the War of 1812, the perceived differences between the USA and Europe, the new Latin American Republics, and the specifics of the Monroe Doctrine.
My BFUs (benchmark focused units) are created for my ELL students WIDAs 2-6, but I also use them for remediation with students with lexiles below grade level--my grade level is 11th grade--and as a general review. They are easy to do, so all you need is to print them out and the students pace themselves. They are optimized for our school's Amplify tablet, so I actually don't print them out. You can use them with Ipad or on computer's with Adobe Reader. These are targeted to keep students reading and answering questions relevant to the standardized tests, so it works well with kids who don't actually read the material.
Please check out my other products! They are under my US History category. I use them in conjunction with the interactive notebook activities on the TPT seller's page Students of History.
