Complete 65 Page unit I have improved upon over the years. These are 21 complete lesson plans. Each lesson plan includes aim, do-now, instructional objective, an independent reading activity... I include very specific modeling activities (so if it happens to be your first time teaching Monster you will have great examples to model inferences etc.) Also included, where needed in the unit, are homework assignments.
Handouts and Worksheets are included as well. 21 lessons in a 65 page file means there is a decent amount of material for learners who like to use graphic organizers. There's a really fun activity for a book talk. The students loved it and I created book talk feedback sheets as well, and they are included in the file. The book talk is great for the common core's speaking and listening standards!
Two assessments are included at the end of the file. The first assessment is named "Assessment A" and it is comprised of seven questions on seven pages so that each question has its own page. There is an organizer for the student's answer and an organizer for the student to place evidence for the answer from the text.
The second assessment is named "Assessment B" and this is a one page assessment for students who may need the alternate assessment as this one doesn't request evidence and is based on text-connections. It always helps to have options, so I included both in the file. Of course you can mix and match, but I wanted to let you have the unit the way I used it since it worked wonders for me. The assessments are open ended, so there is no answer key.
I hope that you find this unit as useful in developing good readers as I have.
