This lesson is a simple, low-prep lesson perfect for Halloween! Students will use the monster speed problem task cards to calculate the speed of each monster. You can use these cards in several ways - place them around the room as a scavenger hunt, give groups of students a deck to sort, quiz-quiz-trade, etc.
Also included is a student answer sheet which prompts students to identify variables and show their work.
Bonus game: Monster fight! Played like war, students flip over a monster card and calculate the speed of the monster. The fastest monster "wins" the monster fight and collects the opponent's card, adding it to their pile. Great activity for early finishers!
*Note: students are only asked to calculate speed. They are not asked to calculate distance or time given speed, which makes this a great simple introduction to speed calculations.
