This is one of my student’s favorite activities during our genetics unit. Provided in this bundle is the information needed for each student to complete an 8 page student booklet showing the inheritance of traits from one generation to the next found in monsters. I have included tips on how and when I assess, a general timeline, the point system that I use to grade, things to watch out for and areas that provide extension opportunities.
Students will see the random nature of trait inheritance, express their creativity by drawing monsters of all kinds, practice their ability to complete single-trait Punnett squares, and answer that all important question... "How can a blue eyed, red-headed kid belong to dark-hair, dark-eyed family?" Recessive monster traits will be readily seen in the second generation of monsters only instead of red-head/blue eyes, your students will see the donut shaped, scaly, stomach-footed kid. Very rare amongst monsters.
I hope that you find it just as useful and enjoyable as I have.
