This packet was created for students with severe speech sound disorders or apraxia of speech who have difficulty with consistency of phoneme production. This is the first packet in a series to target motor planning at a basic level: consonant-vowel sequences. I have found that targeting sounds at a basic syllable level provides students with motor-muscle memory for sound production, and increases confidence as their success builds.
Have each student say the syllables in either a repetitive sequence (pa, pa, pa) or in a vowel sequence with long and short sounds (pa, pe, pi, po, pu). Easily check for coordination, strength, and symmetry of the speech mechanism while developing cornerstone sound combinations to work from.
Look for the next step in the 'Monster Speech' series coming soon- targeting reduplicated and variegated syllable combinations.
