I created this Monster Stomp reading game for students who are struggling with reading, or remembering phonics sounds, blends, vowel patterns or high frequency words. I have made the words outlined in black, written in white in order to make it easier to read- especially for students who are dyslexic, or suspected of having some form of dyslexia.
Directions are simple, print out the words, and monster images, glue each one individually to a notecard. Then students play in small groups (pairs work best) they take turns drawing a word, reads it out loud. They keep the words they read correctly. Then if they draw "monster stomp", they lose all their words. Whoever has the most words at the end wins.
