Phonics Boxes are activities formatted for the boxes available at Michaels that contain 16 smaller boxes. These activities can also be stored in 6x9 brown envelopes or any other way you would like to store them. Each “box” contains a sound or syllable sort and a flashcard activity/game. The cards can also be used just as flashcards and, if laminated, you can have your students use dry erase markers to highlight phonic concepts (such as vowels, digraphs, blends, etc.) There is a title card for the front of the box or envelope and directions. I use double-sided tape to adhere them.
“Monster Truck” is an activity for identifying and reading consonant blends in closed syllables.
For the word sort, students will decide whether the blend is at the beginning, end, or both beginning and end of the word. Header cards are included. 45 sorting cards with words with consonant blends are included.
For the game “Monster Truck”, 6 “collection” cards are included and 48 word cards. Each student gets a collection card. Students take turns reading the word card and trying to collect the 6 monster trucks pictured on their collection card. The first to collect the 6 monster trucks on their card is the winner.
