Monster Writing for Kindergarten and First Grade. Little Books for Little Writers are fun mini-books for your students to complete.
The monster theme is ideal for completing before Halloween or along with a monster-theme alternate to Halloween. The sentence stem reads: ________ is not scary", which is repeated several times on the page. There is also a blank version, so that you can create your own sentence stem or allow your students to freely write their own sentence.
A Lesson plan is included for creating a meaningful writing experience for your students including:
★class chart creation
Grade One Snapshots' "Little Books for Little Writers" make the perfect bulletin board display.
They are low-prep
for teachers (simply copy the pages).
Visual instructions are included for students, which work wonderfully if you would like to use these as an option in your writing center.
A blank interlined version is included so that you may change the topic or have your students complete a more open-ended writing assignment. Students can add as many pages to the booklet as they choose, but the standard version is to have a cover page, an illustration page, and one writing page.
Total page count of the document is 14 (Title page, Lesson Plan, Directions (single condensed page, expanded version for projection or printing), 3 student pages, and credits)
Other themes available at "Grade One Snapshots" are found in my Little Books for Little Writers Bundle One
. It includes the following topics:
