This is a book companion for “Monsters Love School” by Mike Austin. THE BOOK IS NOT INCLUDED. This is a cute story that follows a group of monsters from getting their school supplies ready to getting through their first day of school. It is a great book for the beginning of school!
Included you will find:
Page 1-2 – Cover sheet and Contents and Directions
Page 3-4 - Monsters Love School Supplies – a board game to be used with the school supply check-off page. Print one copy of each page. Laminate and tape together or place in file folder.
Page 5 - School supply check off – Print one for each student, laminate and cut out. Students will need a dry erase marker to check off their supplies as they collect them from the game board. The students roll a dice, move that number of spaces and check off the school supply they land on. A student can choose to go backward on the game board to pick up a supply if they want. The student to reach the end with the most school supplies checked is the winner.
Page 6-10- Monster Categories - Students match the pictures to the correct category.
Page 11-14 – Where is the Monster – preposition cards
Page 15 – Monster puzzles – An open-ended activity where the therapist chooses the type and number of responses needed to collect a card. Students try to build the most complete monsters by the end of the activity.
Pages 16-30 – Monster Mash Card Games. There is a deck included for each of the following: antonyms, synonyms, and multiple-meaning words. Students draw a card and give the correct response. If they draw a “Monster Mash 1” card they get an extra turn. If they draw a “Monster Mash 2” card they get 2 extra turns, and “Monster Mash 3” earns them 3 extra turns. The student with the most cards at the end is the winner.

Page 36-38 – Monster May I? – The therapist reads a card with a 2-step direction, students who follow the directions correctly are allowed to take one step forward.
