What better way to engage students and foster a desire for inquiry than to present lessons in a subject material that is both interesting and fun? As a student throughout school, I was always fascinated with fantastic creatures first in fairy tales, then in legends, and later various cultures’ mythology. So, when deciding what topic to select for a culminating inquiry project, I decided to incorporate those things that many students find interesting: monsters, mythical creatures, fantastic legends, and work them into a two-week long thematic unit.
