Math Talks are a component of Singapore Math instruction that can be incorporated into daily meetings or lessons with any math program. The talks are designed to provide opportunities for children to internalize important math concepts and skills through discussions and stories. To have a Math Talk lesson, teachers will need to display one of the provided illustrations with a whiteboard, document camera or with a colored transparency on an overhead projector.
There are 28 discussion guide pages, each aligned to a kindergarten CCSS in the domains of Counting and Cardinality and Operations and Algebraic Thinking. Key vocabulary is listed with each guide as well.
These lessons could be used in a Pre-K classroom and at the beginning of first grade too.
Several resource materials and templates are provided to enhance the Math Talk lessons including student practice work pages; letters to parents; five frame, ten frame, and number bond templates; and monster counter patterns.
I would be glad to hear any feedback or questions you have about this product. I hope you and your students enjoy Math Talks!
