Students will have fun playing the role of a reporter and writing an article about the events (conflicts) that occurred on Maple Street, USA.
After reading the teleplay "Monsters are Due on Maple Street" students will draw conflict from the text with this fun activity.
Students are instructed to: create an engaging headline (also main idea practice), write an article identifying and supporting at least 3 types of conflict that are revealed in the text and write two character quotes that reveal conflict.
Included with this purchase:
- Newspaper template with instructions and sentence starters (for ELL and struggling students). I displayed the instructions on my ELMO to save paper.
- Newspaper blank template (student use)
Please let me know if you have questions. My students loved the activity and sharing their work with peers afterwards.
