Your kids will love you for this! Never plan a GT literature extension unit again . . . These literacy units represent best practices in gifted education.
Please see my feedback and the 10 page description in the preview. Know what you are getting before you invest.
1,140 pages, K-6 content with 16 K-2 units and 20 3-5th units. This bundle has a couple KG units and grows as the grade levels do with more than half of the units appropriate for 5th grade, many others appropriate for middle school.
You get my two most popular literacy units—“The Arrival” by Shaun Tan and “Wonderstruck” by Brian Selznick. These are the only two whole class units which require a class set of materials—yet both can be done in small groups. “Afternoon of the Elves” is an independent study, small group, or whole class unit.
ALL THE REST OF THESE UNITS REQUIRE ONLY A SINGLE COPY PICTURE BOOK, ARE APPLICABLE TO MULTIPLE SOURCES OF LITERATURE, OR ARE SELF-CONTAINED WITH NON-FICTION AND FICTION EMBEDDED IN THE UNITS THEMSELVES.
This collection contains plenty of writing, but the writing is typically expository or creative as a response to literature. Only a couple of the units are centered around writing.
Don’t expect worksheets or comprehension questions. These units value originality, creativity, and higher order thinking skills most appropriate for gifted learners.
