This resource was created to help students make the connection between using colored beads and the number bond strategy. It is meant to show students that using number bonds or colored beads yields the same answers.
There are four sets of cards: missing part, missing whole, writing number sentences, and missing part or whole with number sentences. There are recording sheets for the last two sets. The teacher can choose to use the recording sheet or have students record in a notebook or on a white board.
Students use the number bond template to build the number bond on the card using number beads. The place holder cards can be used to find a missing part. Students count the whole, then cover the part that is included on the number bond.
